open workshops
Our programme is open, free, and flexible, focused on process, local engagement, and the interests and contexts of the participants. It unfolds through collaborative and critical pedagogical methodologies, and takes shape in both shorter drop-in sessions and longer formats that may include discussion, reading, and sharing.
The workshops are hands-on and welcome neighbours, artists, non-artists, and other curious participants between the ages of 6 and 27. They take place across various districts in Berlin, including Mitte, Charlottenburg, Reinickendorf, Neukölln, Kreuzberg, and Tempelhof.
Participants may focus at times on learning bookbinding while creating their own books and notebooks, and at other times on the book as an object and platform, exploring its materiality, structure, and conceptual dimensions. In both cases, the process is combined with other artistic media such as print, sound, and moving image, opening up a space for experimental making and collective learning.

Eigenseiten is a space for learning bookbinding through experimental, interdisciplinary free workshops for children & young people across six districts in Berlin.In eigenseiten, bookbinding is used as a tool for participants to build their own platform for sharing personal and collective stories, while also expanding access to experimental art methods and creating a space for intergenerational learning, strengthening community engagement and cultural participation. Within this framework, artistic media like print, sound and moving media are introduced to further support literary and visual modes of self-expression through bookbinding.
By making their own books or notebooks, participants are presented to self-publishing as an alternative to institutionalised publishing industries, pointing toward the creation of decentralised, independent platforms for exchange.

Oficina is a monthly space for our team and invited artists to come together, reflect on the project, and develop artistic and educational methods for an experimental, critical, and collaborative practice.
As an integrated part of the project’s development, it fosters exchange between artists and art educators through the sharing of hand-craft techniques, experiments with materials and concepts for collective reflection and investigation on rethinking art education.

Bookbinder, pedagogue, and art educator from Rio de Janeiro. Her focus is on local engagement, gender and independent publications through artist books, drawing, and linocut printing.
Cultural anthropologist and visual artist. Her work explores familiar and contested spaces such as borders, memory, and the body as a site of lived experience. Rooted in process, her practice unfolds across photography, printmaking, collage, and sound recording.
Designer and illustrator from Brazil. She investigates co-design processes as platforms for activism and debate on emerging socio-political issues, focusing on themes of technology, social-environmental justice, gender and their intersectionalities.
Linguist, translator and researcher from Cuba, based in Berlin. Working across languages and visual storytelling, she explores photography as a tool for reflecting on identity, memory and place. Her current research focuses on Caribbean identities and sustainable development.
Designer from Brazil, their work centers in creating collaborative environments for book binding production, zines, and newspapers, as forms of independent media for art, literature, and economic politics.
Visual Artist and Lover of Music raised in Aotearoa (New Zealand). His work operates primarily in drawing, printmaking, and tattooing, with a focus on the sporadic, intuitive, and accidental, attempting to explore moments that normally pass us by, discarded or unseen.
Graphic designer from Italy. Her practice focuses on book design and printed matter, with a particular interest in independent publishing and printing techniques. She works primarily within the cultural field, collaborating with artists, institutions, and friends. She is interested in practices that foster knowledge exchange and collective forms of making.
Visual artist and artistic researcher aus Ägypten. In her artistic practice, she works across painting, drawing, mixed media and installation, often incorporating natural colours, textiles and ritual. Her work is an ongoing process of exploration and transformation — she collects plants, pigments, and stories, allowing them to take on new forms.
Julia Fabricius (b. 1993, Gothenburg, Sweden) is a graphic designer and bookbinder living and working in Berlin. Alongside publishing, Julia gives bookbinding workshops and works with other artists through collaborations, and one-to-one consultations on individual book projects. She currently runs einBuch.kollektiv, a sister space to the artist book gallery einBuch.haus.
